Burro welcomes qualified candidates to join over 100 entrepreneurs earning attractive margins as Burro resellers. Your success as a Burro reseller is vital to Burro's success, and we work with you to expand your network and drive the brand to greater heights.

Together, we deliver superior value to your customers while managing our dealings correctly and fairly. All Burro resellers begin by participating in a free training course. Then qualified candidates are given the opportunity to invest in stock of Burro products with no minimum purchase requirement. Depending on your particulars, you may qualify for a limited amount of 30-day trade credit from Burro. Ask your Burro representative for a credit application form to be considered. Guarantors may be required. Burro monitors outstanding credit closely, and you may be denied future credit for even a single late payment.

The Position: Business Development Trainee


Burro’s Business Development Trainee builds relationships between Burro and major organizations, including NGOs, government ministries, and multinational corporations. The Business Development Trainee will work closely with the Business Development Manager to learn how to scout opportunities, build networks, and close deals. Specific duties include:
  • Become an expert on target organizations and industries
  • Develop relationships in target industries, building a network of allies
  • Close major deals with target organizations
  • Work with the product development team to improve products to better suit the needs of major buyers
  • Take a data-driven approach to tracking and analyzing business development strategies

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in Business or MIS
  • Demonstrated history of honesty, strong work ethic, self-motivation, and problem solving
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English
  • Fluency in one or more local Ghanaian languages
  • Willing to relocate to Koforidua, with frequent travel to meetings and sales events throughout the country
  • Passion for delivering on Burro’s promise—Do More

Internship

Burro internships offer an opportunity to accelerate a project that is vital to Burro’s overall mission and goals while experiencing a professional and cultural immersion; working with Ghanaians from all parts of society. Projects range based on the qualifications and background of the intern, but all provide the opportunity to implement classroom-based learning in a business setting, creating valuable teaching moments and preparing interns for their future careers.

  • Web and mobile application development

    Work with Burro’'s ICT and Systems manager to develop cutting-edge web and mobile-based systems that enhance Burro’s ability to monitor operations and deliver best-in-class service.

  • GIS

    Work with Burro’s ICT and Systems manager to develop Burro’s nascent GIS capabilities.

  • Video production

    Work with Burro’s Creative Manager to write, film, edit, and produce videos that tell the story of Burro’s brand and products.

  • Photography

    Work with Burro’s Creative Manager to do both still and action photography of Burro products and people.

  • Social media

    Work with Burro’s Marketing Department to develop content for social media that engages stakeholders and projects Burro’s brand values.

Qualifications

Individual projects each have specific qualifications, but Burro’s general qualifications are as follows:
  • At least two years’ experience in a Bachelors Program
  • Demonstrated history of honesty, strong work ethic, self-motivation, and problem solving
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Willing to relocate to Koforidua and beyond

Burro fellowships offer an opportunity to accelerate a project that is vital to Burro’s overall mission and goals while experiencing a professional and cultural immersion; working with Ghanaians from all parts of society. The Position

Burro strives to provide innovative, best-value goods and services across a wide range of categories vital to enhancing the lives of our customers. Fellows will lead initiatives to evaluate existing and potentional product offerings to improve their ability to meet the needs of Burro’s customers while enhancing Burro’s ability to supply them as cost-effectively as possible. Specific duties include:

Product Engineering Fellowship
  • Survey potential offerings in agriculture, assess target-customer needs and functional requirements, identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Administer product trials, recommend products and required improvements for initial launch, coordinate with manufacturing partners to meet specifications, and continuously monitor customer feedback to refine the offerings from order to order.
  • Manage Burro’s in-house prototyping and fabrication space, “The Garage”, including supervising outside groups on use of woodworking, welding, and digital fabrication tools.
  • Contribute to an initiative to define, fund, charter, and administer a new Ghana-based, ​Institute of Design for Development in collaboration with appropriate partners including institutions of higher learning in engineering, agriculture, and medicine. Collaborate with student groups worldwide to advance product development projects.
Product Design Fellowship
  • Survey potential offerings in agriculture, assess target-customer needs and functional requirements, identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Lead iterative prototyping and user-testing of new product ideas including managing partnerships with local manufacturers and fabricators.
  • Manage Burro’s in-house prototyping and fabrication space, “The Garage”, including supervising outside groups on use of woodworking, welding, and digital fabrication tools.
  • Contribute to an initiative to define, fund, charter, and administer a new Ghana-based, ​Institute of Design for Development in collaboration with appropriate partners including institutions of higher learning in engineering, agriculture, and medicine. Collaborate with student groups worldwide to advance product development projects.

Qualifications

Product Engineering Fellowship
  • A degree in Engineering with focus on disciplines applicable to agriculture is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to empathetically assess customer needs and contribute to design decisions
  • Manual and digital fabrication experience (CAD, woodworking, welding etc.) strongly preferred
  • Willing to relocate to Koforidua, Ghana for a minimum of six months
  • Passion for delivering on Burro’s promise—Do More
Product Design Fellowship
  • A degree in Design, preferably Product Design with strong portfolio including innovations designed specifically for affordability and functionality at the base of the pyramid
  • Demonstrated history of honesty, strong work ethic, self-motivation, and problem solving
  • Manual and digital fabrication experience (CAD, woodworking, welding etc.)
  • Willing to relocate to Koforidua, Ghana for a minimum of six months
  • Passion for delivering on Burro’s promise—Do More

Support

One round-trip ticket to Ghana, housing, and in-country transportation are provided, as well as a modest monthly stipend to cover food and other sundry expenses. Fellows are encouraged to look for additional sources of funding outside of Burro, and Burro will assist in that process however possible.
